Madden 18 Week 1 roser Offline Franchise

How do I use the most recent EA rosters that were out as of Friday september 8 in my offline franchise? I have downloaded the rosters and then saved them and no matter what I do when I start up the offline franchise it still uses the default, even if I select the second option that says use most recent active roster. I can tell it isn't using the right roster because the new roster has McCaffrey an 81 Overall but every time I load it up he's back to a 77

You have to start at week 1 regular season, starting in the preseason messes up the rosters. Keep in mind, the overalls show up differently in franchise than they do in the main menu

I like going through preseason so chances are i wont be abke to do preseason with the updated rosters then huh?
