Re: The truth about MUT
For M17, I decided to follow a 'no money spent' method of not spending coins on packs and buying players I wanted instead - based on chemistry.
All in all, it worked out great. Hit my first million around Nov - mainly because I got lucky in a free pack pull.
Only gripe was when MUT effectively 'killed' the Mid-Season MUT Master collection by ending the Man of the Month sets once the actual NFL season ended. I should've guessed that would happen, but the game provided no other realistic way to get MOTM collectibles - I was pretty annoyed about this. It's one thing to be forced to put in the grind, but to put a time limit on that grind doesn't feel fair in my mind...
That said, easily hit the Legend status via free packs opened through solos and weekly objectives. The weekly objectives kept the game alive for me.
Hoping M18 provides a good path for us non-spenders. Only buying players you need (then selling soon as they've served their purpose). Already disappointed by Madden bringing back teamplay but in the form of MUT Squads, basically forcing in-game purchases so people will play with you. Pretty cynical, but looking forward to the mode all the same.
