Resigning players Madden 15

I finally got this game and started messing with the offline franchise modes. I tried both Coach and Owner mode as the Eagles.

I am trying to extend Maclin's one year contract but in both franchises I only see a handful of players "interested" in extensions. Maclin's not one of these players, and I can't go into the View Roster section to resign him.

Am I only limited to players who are "interested"?

Are you looking under the re-sign player section under the actions menu tab?

Players with one-year contracts won't show up in the in-season re-sign players phase. Your only opportunity to re-sign Maclin to a long-term contract will be in the offseason re-sign players step. If you fail to re-sign the player here, you may either use the franchise tag on him or let him walk to unrestricted free agency.

I'm really hoping this gets revamped soon. I miss the more realistic option of being able to tear up the final year of a player's deal in order to do an extension. I did that a lot on the PS2. Last year (and I'll presume this coming year) the only option if you have a guy who's in the final year making too much, but who you'd like to retain, is to cut him and try to resign him in UFA.
