This may seem thoroughly irrelevant, but EA has partnered with OOTP baseball for distribution. For those that don't know, OOTP baseball is a baseball management sim.

Now, the interesting thing is that developer is currently trying to produce a football management sim too... wonder if that might get canned in favour of moving some of their guys from that project sideways into EA for CFM. Wondering what EA is getting out of this deal otherwise as they don't seem interested in cracking the baseball market...

Pretty clear the reason...EA doesn't want anything that might be considered competition. Sure they'll can the football sim plans.

OOTP has partnered with Jim Gindin who has made the Front Office Football games for the past 20 years. The game has an excellent statistical engine and it will get a new coat of paint with this partnership . There is no way the game is not going to be made. Jim Gindin has a track record.

A PC desktop management sim for pro football, even if developed and published by EA and titled "Madden Sucks 2019!" would cannibalize about 0.0% of Madden sales... and that's probably a figure that needs to be rounded down. It's not a threat... but I also don't consider it any kind of reason to think they are interested in grafting such a product onto Madden either.

You guys are posting as if EA bought them.

They are distribution partners, that's all. OOTP will be available via Origin in addition to Steam and its own website. EA isn't the publisher, they don't own the dev house. It's additional exposure for OOTP and nothing more.
