Passing defense help

Hello All,

Played madden now for the past 20 years or so. This is truly one of the only maddens that I can remember struggling so badly in the pass defense area.

I usually user the LB and run defense is not an issue. I think my biggest issue seems to be on giving up big gains.

It seems that I am consistently giving up outside routes, drags, or posts regardless of whether I am running cover 2, 3, 4, 6, 9. This is for both zone and man. I can shade in every direction possible and pass commit but it doesn't do me any good it seems.

Does anybody have any shut down defensive tips or techniques on slowing down the pass game against users?

User coverage is a little loose this year, but...

How many passing yards are you giving up per game? Do even bad QB's light you up?

Also how are your Db's rated?

I use cover 1 and cover 2 with Dallas. I have pretty good success. But I will get toasted against good QB's. I played with teams that had better Db's, and it was a noticeable difference how my pass defense reacted.

Against users?

The only thing that I've seen that actually works on a consistent basis is to mix up your fronts and coverages, and throw in blitzes. The aim is to get the user to get comfortable, and then switch it at the right moment, causing that person to hesitate and then get sacked by your blitz.
