Editing Drafted Player Names, will the announcer still say them?

I know in years past that you could edit anything about a drafted player, but if you changed their name the announcer would not say it. Is that still the case?

I suppose I'll try it tonight and see. I only play in online franchises and only a couple times a week, so I was hoping I wouldn't have to test.

Yeah, I know a year or two ago that if you changed the name the CPU would not say the name. If you left the name as is, it was said. I guess I'll have to do a test.

Update, changing a drafted players name to anything, even a common name like Smith, Jackson, or Adams, will mean that his name is NOT announced in game.

It's 2021, this is stupid. It's especially stupid when the announcer won't even announce all of the default names.

Congrats! You drafted a STUD Superstar XF-Factor WR whose name will never been announced as you use him for the next 10 seasons in CFM.

Yep it’s really ridiculous when they put in custom draft classes back in 2019 they sent out a patch where you could edit names and they would be said. In 2020 the same but in 2021 and now 2022 they reverted back. This is horrible considering back in madden 2001 they said players on both offense and defense. It’s a freaking joke.

Do they announce the name of any defensive prospect? For many years the announcers did not even say it regardless if the name was edited or not.

Most EA thing ever. Implement a feature (custom draft classes) with little depth so things like editing player names are never accounted for and missing features like face editing and many equipment options. Madden is the worst at franchise player customization and acts like they're using pre-2005 technology while 2K has had this for a decade+. So frustrating and can just hope it improves next year...
