A roster file is not an update, all it does is move players around, update players, and remove players. Unless they changed the rating of ever single player in the game, but they would still need a patch to correct this issue when you have rookies entering the league and player progression.

A game update would fix issues, and that downloads when you boot the game, not when you go online in the game. These are to completely different things

It is possible to attach a patch to a roster update. Other games have done so in the past.

If they fix anything they better do it as a separate patch. I've already started my Franchise and Super Star and don't want to start over. I've never heard of a patch being part of a roster, but if what you say is true then that would mean we would have to start a new Franchise.
