Are sliders that big a deal?

Hello all,

Basically, I've been playing Madden for the last 4 years. I'm not elite by any stretch of the imagination, or nearly elite for that matter.

On Madden 11 I only played Franchise mode constantly, and I think I only played it on Pro (I don't have it any more to check).

I won comfortably all the time, so I moved to the next setting (All-pro?).

IMO, this was very unbalanced in favour of the CPU most of the time.

Now I've never played with custom sliders before, so I'm wondering, do they really make the game that much better? Would I have enjoyed my Madden experience more last season, if I were using custom sliders?

I have been reading threads in this forum, and they are very interesting to me, to say at the least (and a little overwhelming for a slider noob).

So would you say custom sliders will enhance my playing of Madden 12?

Imagine going to the weight room and being asked to workout on a circuit (various excercises for different body part). They start you at 50 lbs on everything (pro level). You find it too easy and they move you to 100 lbs on everything (all pro). Now your bench and leg press may still be easy. But your curls and lat pull downs and tri curls are too hard. Wouldn't you want to adjust those exercises to get a reasonable weight for those areas you are weak in? Same with sliders.
To me sliders accomplish two things: 1. I can adjust aspects of game play to suit my abilities. If I'm poor in pass D but great in passing. I can lower the difficulty on one and raise it on the other, thereby getting a balanced game play.
2. I can adjust the settings to get accurate, real life NFL type stats (being within a reasonable range of NFL averages for passing yards etc.

Nothing turns me off more than taking a weak team, winning all my games the first year and the superbowl, having my QB throw 70 TD passes etc. It's just not real.

Yes Sliders are a VERY big deal.

They make NCAA Football 12 smoother if done right
and Madden has even more ability for improvement with the sliders they provide us.

Sliders make or break or the game. I'm glad Online Communities will have custom Sliders. It makes the game more realistic!

Change speed sliders and penalties. Gameplay gets 100xs better!

Re: Are sliders that big a deal?

Sliders need to be used with house rules. For instance, you can only run with the back, no jukes, stiff arm or use of the sprint. Also, if there is a bread and butter play, you can't use it because you know it's a guarantee first down or TD. The whole object of sliders is to make the game feel and play real but rules must be met in order to achieve realistic stats. It's actually fun.

I never really needed house rules myself if the sliders were tough enough...although I did have one rule about no spin move in the open field. Also I guess it's sort of a house rule that I use ask madden for all plays. I may audible or override a ridiculous play call, but otherwise I follow that.

If you play with challenging all-madden sliders you won't need any house rules like that. With All-Pro sliders you need house rules..
