Yeah, but see the big difference is now that the general public doesn't need the Madden name to buy the game, they will see that it is plain and simply the only NFL game out there, and that's all the motivation needed. EA has put themselves in a very good position to rebuild the game and drop the entire Madden idea.
If you think about it, one of the biggest issues in Madden NFL games as far as presentation goes is the simple terrible commentary. You can't have a game named after a commentator and have terrible commentary. That doesn't make sense. If they were to chase some TV license from FOX or maybe even ESPN, they could re-do the commentary altogether, and have a whole new presentation put together. It seems to me like EA has been almost afraid to even stray slightly from the Madden-isms that we've seen over and over simply because it is a trademark.
