It's true.

In reality, the "forum fan base" is in the minority when compared to sales figures for Madden.

They might want things changed, and the changes might be valid concerns, but the "mass populace" buys the game year to year, and to EA that is an indication they are enjoying the game, regardless of their reasoning for purchase.

I think there is a misconception at the forums, and other sites where users discuss and desire "realistic" gameplay, that EA ultimately cares about their opinion, and wishes to make the game as realistic as possible. In reality, Madden 2005 was pruchased by 3.2 million Americans, and the forum crowd represents a very miniscule fraction of those sales.

As long as millions of people keep buying the Madden games, EA considers their franchise to be a success. And making major changes to their game is a risk that, while benefiting the "forum crowd," could also greatly reduce the chance of the average gamer picking the game up, and ultimately greatly lower their sales figures for a given year.

Yes yes, to ObiWan you listen. If EA were you, and knew that with minimal effort maintain a huge customer base you could, why put forth a big effort would you? Make nominal changes, throw in a new feature and advertise the force out of it is their way now.

Once stop buying it people do, then changes see will you.

I know this might turn nasty but Madden is far and away the best pro-football game there. Is it perfect? No, far from it. Can it be better? Sure. Still the best game out there, bar none. Do not even mention that piece of .... ESPN 2kwhatever.

These discussions are always more beneficial when you avoid the insults and extremist comments. Don't worry about it though, you'll understand what I mean when you get through school.
