Madden '06 will be the most picked apart football game ever. Be prepared...

I think that Madden will be reviewed lower this year because of the absence of 2K (which I personally think was an overrated critic's darling, mainly because of graphics...my opinion only).

The people and critics who loved the 2k series are going to come down on Madden like wild dogs over any little thing they can because of the resentment they have towards EA. Mark my words they are waiting to bug pick this game like no other football game in history!

The reality about Madden is that it almost never takes a backward step. You are guaranteed to get at LEAST what you got last year. A lot of people don't like the fact that it takes baby steps every year but baby steps don't result in missteps. If you are thinking about buying and you did not like it before then don't, I can guarantee you won't like the new one either.

For those of you who like the Madden series be prepared, you might want to stay out of the forums for a month or so. The scrutiny and nit-picking here is about to get unbearable.

You are soooo right. But the least EA could of done to shut the naysayers up(myself included) is to skip the baby step and actually jump foward this time. Until then, you can expect this game to be under a microspcope because its all we get this year. Worse then previous years because there is no other game to compare it to.

Just b/c madden doesn't usually take a step backwards, is that supposed to be impressive. Btw 2004 was a step backwards in gameplay to 2003. Also, (not that IGN has any credence), 2006 per IGN was a step backwards. The problem w/ madden is that it doesn't ever make major steps forward. The game is solid, but stale as hell. The 2k series is flawed but at least they made pretty significant changes each year. EA is just fat and lazy, plain and simple.

some argue that the HUGE changes in 2k every year was because the game was lacking and obviously needed HUGE changes. while the madden guys say that the game is fine as it is but only needs baby steps. and thats what madden does every year.. they make baby steps.

And they dont have a right too? I think EAsports really needs to step it up now..if they were bold enough to take on the task of hosting the only REAL NFL Football videogame..they need to be bold enough to make great strdes in improving their game now..its all part of the deal. Lots of football gamers are holding their breath for EAsports to step it up now including me.

I think its their job now to bend over backwards for us gamers..they will get mad profits now so they will get their cheese..but will we get our top notch NFL football videogame? If 2006 current gen madden is any indication..i guess not UNLESS they are putting the majority of their resources for x360 madden..which im hoping on because quite frankly..i was highly pissed off when i played Madden 2006 last night on my xbox

Well, I just played about 15 minutes of 06 in my local EB . . . I have been playing TONs of 2K5 for the past year . . . man, what a step back that was. It's like going from Shakespeare to Brittany Spears. I have 06 pre-ordered, and I'm going to give it a shot, but it is lacking (at least at first impression) in so many ways, gameplay and graphics wise, compared to 2K5. I just left with an ill feeling in my stomach. Hopefully we can fine tune this and tweak it so it plays a smart, capable brand of football . . . . . . I'm already distressed at EA's total lack of care in improving its online leagues. Do they want to FORCE me to keep playing 2K5???????


Hopefully this turns out OK . . . I am willing to give it a shot. Fingers are crossed.
