Horrible Tackling.

I like this game a lot but after playing a couple games of NFL 2k5 I realized just how bad Madden's tackling and running game is. 2k5 has amazing gang tackles where one guy will hit you and throw off the runner's momentum then another guy will finish you off. Madden 06 has your basic one man tackling animations. Also 2k5 the running game/tackling is based on momentum. If you are moving one way and you get hit you will recoil backwards but will not go down unless another guy wraps you up. If you do a juke move to the right and a guy wraps your legs you will fall in that direction etc in 2k5. In Madden if you get bumped you will go down immediately or continue as if nothing happened. There are 2 types of animations in Madden: Tackle or Broken Tackle.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy Madden 06 but the tackling system is broken. This needs to be fixed for next-gen. I hear people all the time talking about how great the running game is.. they obviously havent played NFL 2k5.

yep. i've yet to play madden 06', but if it's anything like ncaa 06 i'd totally agree with you.

I never liked the running game in the 2K series...NCAA 06 has the best running system but thats just IMO.

In 2k5 when you change direction your running back plants his foot, stops, pushes off that foot, then accelerates in the new direction.

In Madden your guy's legs never move - his body just turns. like those toy race gars when the wheels dont move you just rotate the car.

2K5's gang tackles were awesome!!

We'll see how the tackling fares on the three sixty I guess.

madden tackling blows and it is amusing to STILL see the pahntom tackels in this game. You know, the ones where a guy runs by you (note not even tackling you) and grazes your shoudler and you go down like you were hit by a bus.

Man did I hate ESPN football. They got my $20.

And your guys falls like he was shot in the back with his hands in the air. The game should never get 9's and 10's for that fact alone, it's probably still using tackling code from Madden'94.
