Just pick a play with the word flat in it.

Choose any cover 2 zone play. The 2 cornerbacks have "cloud" coverage on both sides of the formation. Their responsibilities are covering the flats, and to force outside runs back inside towards the interior of the defense. I hope this helps.

Re: RB catching in the flats

Cover 2 is ok, but can still give up an easy 5 as the corner fades back to cover the X receiver. As that other guy said above, pick something that explicitly names flats coverage. Those cover the flats from the LOS, and are your best shots at negating yardage, and are better for pick attempts that you can take back for 6.

DE Contain *should* work as well. (Haven't tried this and I can't at the moment since I'm stuck working) :-(

i have tried the cover 2 many a times and it really doesn't seem to work based on what u said about the x receiver. I aslo don't know of any coverage with flats in the name of the play out of the 3-4 playbook.

If you got good lb's than playmaker them to cover the flats.

Re: RB catching in the flats

There's a play in the 4-3 formation called "man flats." Use it.
