Madden 360 Defensive Help needed

I am begging for help here. I am having major difficulty defending passes to the flat. I play a friend who will line up with 4 or 5 wide and send a slot receiver or tight end on a slant to the sideline and I cannot find a defensive to stop this. If he doesn't get a first down with it he usaully can get 8-9 yds a pop before a defender runs to the area. Generally they are always out of position.

Even when I know that is what he is going to do, I pick dime D and no matter if I pick man coverage or zone (with the flat covered), no DB or LB is in the area, and I mean not even close.

Please help I am pulling (what's left of) my hair out here. Our games are generally close but I can't get over the hump and stop this play.
