This is the option where you come to the line off scrimmage in one formation and then with a button press, you can shift to a totally different formation without changing the playcall.
I don't believe so. We didn't have a manual, but I'm 99.9% sure the answer to that is "no".

Does it feel more like the 2K series? Not really - it feels like a more sim-like Madden. If you've played the Xbox 360 version of NCAA 07, you'll have no major surprises; Madden's feel and gameplay is extremely similar to NCAA's, but perhaps a bit more responive and fluid.

Retro jerseys? I don't know for certain - but if there will be, you'll likely need to purchase them on Xbox Live Marketplace. They will have alternate jerseys and historical stadiums, so retro jerseys aren't out of the realm of possibility - but they didn't say.

Classic Teams? No.

Hot Routes? For WRs, TEs and RBs, yes. Not for defense.

Re: Madden NFL 07 Community Day - Q&A

By the way - please keep in mind that I spent all but a few minutes on the next-gen Xbox 360 version.

Unless I specify otherwise, I'm referring to the Xbox 360 version of the game.

do u feel the run game will be overdone...ala 2k4 where everyone was
breaking tackles

any way u can get back to madden & have them put an option to
on/off that shotgun sound for long pass plays?---if they want sim, why is that in there?

Thanks for the time Shawn!

Any word on playoff atmosphere?

Are team specific defensive playbooks in the 360 version?

Thanks again

The sound... look, folks - it's goofy (really, really goofy), but it's not going anywhere at this point.
Take a deep breath, find your Zen center and..

Let.
It.
Go.

There. Doesn't that feel better?

***

I like the run game - it's not overdone, but for a change, you actually have to scheme for it.
You try spreading everyone out and dropping them back, you're going to give up a lot of yards, and one broken tackle can mean six points - like in real football.

Perhaps this is why I'm not missing the Defensive Playmaker. The game is less about who can flip the sticks the fastest pre-play, and more about doing what real coaches do - call the right plays in the first place.

Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time for me to get into much of Franchise mode at all, and I certainly didn't make it to the playoffs. Most of my time was spent on the engine and core gameplay.

The playbooks are like you've seen in Madden before - not every team has every play, but it's not like John Fox handed over his blitzing scheme from the Panthers' playbook for EA to scan or anything...
