Having said that, the game seems to have made major leaps and bounds improvements over Madden 06 on the 360, which isn't saying much, other than that the devs definitely were hard at work making lemonade out of that lemon.

One thing does bother me though. When someone mentions that they are probably gonna pick up the current gen game instead, why does someone inevitably become defensive about the next gen game and make some smart @$$ comment? Personally, I think I'll enjoy the current gen game more for one more year, simply because though the NG game looks good, it's not quite there yet. Again, I say this based on videos, not actual gameplay, and my best guesstimates after playing NCAA and Madden 360. Does this make me stupid? Or just able to look past the stunningly good looks this game has?
I agree, NCAA is fun - no doubt about that - just isn't as tight control wise as I think it should be.

I would play NCAA on my ps2 and I think Madden 360 will be the game us next gen football players have been craving. In fact, I might pick up a used copy of NCAA for my ps2 due to the fact that I had it on release day and did like the control better.

b/c many ppl see it as going backwards..& seems that many 360 owners are upset that many ppl say the current gen version gameplay is better when the 360 version isn't even out yet..

Yeah, but it goes both ways. So many times I read about how the next gen Madden is so much more advanced than the current gen game. This is also an assumption. Just because the engine has more ratings in it doesn't mean it's more advanced. More complicated, yes, but not neccessarily more advanced. There is certainly more potential for that engine, which is a no-brainer really, as the current gen engine has peaked.

But is an engine more advanced if it has worse collision detection problems, worse player interaction etc. It still can be, but I don't think either game is any better than the other at this point, aside from eye candy.

Re: New video preview @ GameTrailers

I loved the gameplay in the ps2 version, but I wasn't drawn in like the 360 version did. Atmostphere was much, much better in the 360 version. It just felt like you were at a college football game... BUT, again the ps2 version had a huge fun factor for me as far as gameplay went.

Since Madden is almost here, I decided to trade in my 360 copy of NCAA and if I get that "itch" again (assuming BBCF gets boring someday), I'll probably pick up a used ps2 copy.

I'm expecting a lot of good things from Madden this year on the 360.

Re: New video preview @ GameTrailers

I would recommend that everyone wondering why things are left out of next gen, that they read the interview with the producer(Ian something i think) over at Madden Mania. Its a good read, that really explains a lot why some things have been left out. I have said for YEARS, "EA pleeeeease forget about the fluff and devote to the gameplay". From all the early impressions of website admins, it seems that is exactly what they did with 07 for 360....so i cant gripe. Ill probably buy both versions just like i did with NCAA. 360 to play online with friends....current gen to play franchise...but i can see why some people would be totally against that.

There is no doubt that the technology used in the 360 game can do things the current gen can't match, and atmosphere is definitely one of them. But there's also something that the NG games can't match, and that's 6 years of fine tuning an engine. In other words, time. It will take time for the NG engine to reach the level of refinement that the current gen game has. As it is, some of the gameplay holes that existed in 360 NCAA were too large for me to overlook, when I had another product that filled those holes, but just couldn't match the visuals.

When it comes to sports games, I'm not much of a graphics wh*re. Gameplay wins out for me, and IMO, this will be the last year where the current gen game outshines the NG version. Next year, I'm fully expecting to be only playing the NG NCAA and Madden.

I'm actually all about this idea. I have both versions of NCAA, and although I'm playing the PS2 version more, it's nice to play the NG game every now and then.

I anticipate that NG Madden will be getting much more play than NG NCAA, though. I'm pretty impressed with alot of what I've seen.
