Regarding IGN review

Bungie did the same thing with Halo 2.

Halo 2 got it's review on November 7th and was released on the 9th. EA has no reason to hold back reviews only days before a release, unless they are not confident that their game is good.

Maybe they told them they wouldn't send them a copy a month early if they don't hold off on the review. EA does release a lot of games - I'm sure keeping honoring an outright request keeps the wheel greased to some degree.

My point is, it was a simulatneous review for all sites. Bungie said they couldn't post the review until 11/7 at a certain time.

That's a bit much. Although IGN's review wouldn't do anything for me unless Douglass Perry reviewed it.

Damn, does EA know the game is that bad that they won't let sites review it ahead of time? What is a review worth the day of or the day after public release? Isn't that the point of sites like OS, IGN or MaddenMania?

I guess the problem is the hords of mods & community peeps with the game in their hands for a matter of days will surely uncover a insane amount of bugs, quirks & flat out laziness on EA's part, and it behooves EA to keep the lockdown on the embarrassing stuff lol.
