How to improve your created player's attributes

Once you create a play (not in Superstar mode), does anyone know how to improve his attributes? I didn't do too bad on my drills, but still got horrible attribute ratings. Do your created player's attributes improve as a result of good gameplay; if so, can you achieve that through playing well in "play now" games, or does it have to be a dynasty?

I don't really like Superstar Mode that much, because no matter how many times I redo it, my fave team won't draft me. And I don't really like any other teams a whole lot.

Man, how I long for the days when you could make your created player with just the attributes you'd like and place him on whatever team you want. Is it realistic? No, but then again, I'd never get on a team anyway, so if I'm gonna dream, might as well dream big.

Just get drafted, and when you enter the regular season, demand a trade. When you demand a trade, it doesnt matter if the team needs you or not, its just random. And keep reloading it until your favorite team trades for you.
