is the ps2 version the best

I like the ps2 version over 360 and xbox am i alone on this?

I like the PS2 version the best because:

a) I've never played it on the 360 or XBox...lol

and

b) I gotta be able to edit my players.

I asked the same question myself so any additional discussion would be appreciated. What specifically are the differences between the two and is the slowdown that I have been hearing about very distracting on the PS2?

I"ve played on both the PS2 and the XBox and I thought they played pretty much the same. The PS2 seemed to pause quite a bit at the end of plays which kinda annoyed me, but I liked it's two 4 shoulder buttons on the controller better than the XBox's two. I haven't played my PS2 on sports games in a long time, so while I was playing Madden on the PS2 this past weekend, the load times really got old. I have an XBox and PS2 and I decided to get the game on XBox just because it is faster with load times and all.

I really didn't notice any gameplay differences between the two. I didn't play a whole bunch of games on the PS2, 4 I think, but it seems like the same as the XBox version to me.

Aside from the Makeup of the controller, and slightly improved Graphics on the XBox there is no difference between te current Gen versions. I have the Ps2 version and it does seem jumpy, i figure the Xbox version is devoid of that, and considering that its graphics are going to be crisper i think its a no brainer that the Xbox version is the superior one

Aukevin--good info. On a side note, did you notice a difference in commentary between the two versions. I am still playing 05 on the PS2 and they talk a lot. I played 06 on the XBox for a couple of games and it seemed Michaels and Maddens said a lot less. Did you see any of that this year?

Thanks for the feedback. I have both consoles and am going to get 07 this weekend. It sounds like the only drawback of the XBox is the controller layout. Can the buttons be mapped differently like on the PS2?

well, I haven't played Madden in 3 years, so I can't compare to previous years really. Madden seems to ramble on and on about stuff on the XBox version, and I really don't remember the PS2 version's commentary because I was playing with my brother and we talked most of the time during the game.

I'm pretty sure the XBox version has different controller layouts, but I don't know if you can remapped individual buttons, just change layout schemes. I didn't change mine because I like to keep it as similar to NCAA as possible. I would say the thing I like the least about the XBox version is having to use the black and white buttons to pass to my HB and FB, mainly because you don't have to use those buttons that much on NCAA. The loading and saving times make up for that though IMO and that is why the XBox always gets the nod over the PS2 for me when they offer the same game.

Like I said, I didn't notice any changes in how the game is played between the two versions, just sharper graphics (XBox), laod times, and controller differences. Someone that gets down to and really looks for gameplay differences might find some, but I haven't by just playing a handful of games on each system.
