What happened to the fans?

Not important as "MAKE OR BREAK IN BUYING MADDEN 2008"

But its a big deal presentation wise. What I hoped the fans would depict in Next Gen was City Specif fans that each had their unique feel.

I would be happy if they went the ESPN2k5 route and just showed cut scenes of 3-D fans celebrating in a certain section. I would be D to that.

The NFL doesn't really have that though, at least not as much as college football or basketball. The atmosphere at NFL games are almost laughable compared to college. I hope they can keep the sprites out of NCAA 08, since the stadiums are usually smaller.

It does hit their graphics a bit, as that's a huge eye sore when showing off the game. 60 fps is something you enjoy, but it's not eye candy in a magazine or commercial.

Well they did the same thing with FIFA 07 when they changed the animation system, so maybe this is what EA is doing.

Yes the crowd is important but like I said in the thread @ Maddenmania, EA having thousands of 3-d people moving at all times was pointless because that doesnt happen except 3rd downs and big plays. I have no problems with hi res sprites if the on-field action is great.

And your idea for the 2k5 way is a good.

I haven't played any of the FIFA games, can you elaborate a little on this? How exactly did the crowd graphics change?

Oh it was something I noticed 1 day. On the 1st game I believe it was road to the world cup, the crowd was 3d and had much more detail to it. In Fifa 07 the game had a new animation system but the crowd looks noticeably less detailed and kind of like 2d. Not a big deal but its something I noticed. The crowd in these screenshots looks like the FIFA 07 crowd.
