Re: New Madden Info

What ever happened to a sports game that just plays like the sport. The gimmicks are getting out of control.

I'm may just stick with OOTP 07 or Football Manager 07.

And people used to call first person football a gimmick. I'd much rather videogame football go in that direction than to continue adding things like flashlight cones and huge superhero symbols. It's like looking at the Bat Signal, IMO.

amen brother, terry glenn and santana moss are two different types of recievers but in past madden as long as they were fast, or big they played the same.I could do the same money plays i use for Moss with roy williams.

Apparently some people dislike the idea from reading this thread. And I think it's for the reasons you cite above, less thinking involved if everyone plays the same way and you can do one play with Santana Moss exactly the same as you would with Roy Williams. God forbid they make the game more realistic by differentiating the players!

The difference between the two is that the weapons system does not cause your matchups to lose points in ratings.

The Weapons System actually balances everything out. Think of it this way.

Champ Bailey -vs- Marvin Harrison means that between the two, both have almost a 50/50 chance of beating the other. Champ may or may not shut Harrison on any given Sunday but match him up against, say Patrick Crayton of the Cowboys who could possibly be having a hot season (hypothetically speaking) and chances are that Bailey will be shutting him down consistently. Same goes the other way around.

Chad Johnson -vs- Champ Bailey and it's pretty much an even matchup. However, let Chris Gamble cover him and chances are that Johnson will beat him 9 times out of 10, hypothetically speaking.

With the Player Roles system, Chad Johnson bonus would be he gained some in ratings and causes whoever mans up on him to lose ratings. In real life, Champ Bailey will always play like Champ Bailey. He won't lose coverage skills or press skills just because of who he is covering. The Weapons System just causes the star players to play like star players.

Re: New Madden Info

Worried like others about the weapons being too "arcadey", but a great find and it should add to the game if they aren't overdone.
