According to SBJ, EA is spending 10 million to promote Madden 08.

The only game that could match this is probably GoW.

Since '07 made "more then 100 million dollars in it's first week" last year, that seems completely reasonable.

Why would they is the better question. This game sells itself and has for quite some time now. Name recognition alone sells this game. I'm very surprised at the amount of $ they would throw at marketing campaigns.

Think they could shave $30k off that to hire a guy to make some refs, a chain gang, and if he has some spare time an accelerated clock? An overlay would be cool too.

I tend to think people who buy Madden generally pick it up no matter what. I wonder how much of a difference a ton of marketing will make for this game?
