I was fortunate enough to play the game at Wal-Mart yesterday on an HD TV. All I can say is, wowza...I was totally blown away by the graphics. The gameplay was nice too...maybe a little slower than NCAA (which doesn't really make sense...it should be the other way around...right?) but all in all, a great game of football. I can't wait to buy this game....I just upgraded to an X-Box 360 so this will officially be my first Next-Gen Madden experience.

BTW, I get a kick out all these little complaints about no refs, uniforms, etc. Of course you're never going to get a PERFECT game from EA, otherwise you would just use franchise mode for the next 4-5 years with College Football and never buy another EA Sports football game!

Were their chain gangs on PS2/Xbox? I don't think so, I don't think they have been their since PS1. 2K had them, so they can be done I guess, but I really don't care at all about them or refs.

Hmmm...most people are saying the opposite and that Madden is a lot faster than NCAA.

I'll preface this by saying that I haven't played a next-gen version until 08.

Liked:
1) Graphics - plays smooth, looks great, especially vs PS2
2) Better defensive AI. Much less likely to get eaten alive by constant deep passes.
3) Fatigue - You actually need depth on your depth chart.
4) Scouting in Franchise mode - I like it much better than the 07 PS2 version.
5) Weapons - some players are definitely very different from others.
6) Stadium building - Waaaaaay better than the 07 PS2 version.

Disliked:
1) Player editing - can't edit positions, height, or weight. This has been in the PS2 version for years but still isn't in next-gen That 230lb LE you just drafted? Yeah, he's gonna get steamrolled because you can't move him to LB or give him 30 lbs. Plus, this feature is in next-gen NCAA so why not next-gen Madden???
2) Play-calling - It's fine vs the CPU or on-line but if you are playing someone sitting in the same room then you can watch them call plays. No hiding play selection like has been available in the PS2 version for years.
3) Can't play with more than one user profile - Again, only really applies to when you are in the same room with your opponent but again, available on PS2 version.
4) Scouting in Franchise mode - it randomly determines whether each team will have 5, 10, 15, or 20 scouting slots available. There's no reason for this.
5) Stat-keeping - Pancakes went from a bit high to stupidly low. The INT bug...
6) Team creation - I can't create a team using an existing team's roster. I also can't create a team outside of the United States (there goes my dream of playing in snowy Toronto).

Overall I liked a number of things about the next-gen Madden but much of my Madden play is head-to-head franchise play against a friend and we're considering buying the PS2 version just because it has features that are not in the next-gen for no good reason.

Yes, I remember them. There was actually some side-line interaction with the crew. I remember running into those fellas and you could actually knock them over.
