The same thing would happen to me on NCAA. If the db's on my depth chart got fatigued (not hard since the DC at CB is only 5 deep) it would try to pick who should play corner next. But rather than play my other active corner or one of my three active backup safties, it would go to WR's. I think it is because in that situation, it looks at their overall rating at their position, and not their rating for the position they are being put into. So after the last assignable spot on the depth chart, instead of putting in the next best player at that position, it puts in the best players available based on their ratings at their home position. On NCAA I once had my starting QB with 63 speed playing SS. That's not right at all.
