This is a dumb question, but I really don't know the answer. Must I have xbox live in order to download roster updates? If so, how much does it cost? Do I have to have the xbox console near an internet plug to get xbox live?

you have to have at least Xbox live silver (which is free), but the kicker is that you must have access to a broadband internet connection. You can hook up with a cable or you have to bux microsofts wireless connection. (you could hook up a ethernet cable to a wireless router like I do (airport express)).

Or you could buy a Datel Xchange kit and a memory card and download them off of this site if someone posts the newest rosters.

Thanks, how do I get xboxlive silver for free?

It comes for free with any xbox 360, other then making a GT there isnt much else that needs to be done.
