This may sound weird but back in 05 both games drove me to enjoy the other game more.

I would get in grooves were I would only play one and then switch.

But yeah I agree the last really good Madden. That is not to say I havent enjoyed the most recents because I have, but not like 05.

For sure, '05 was the last Madden I really enjoyed. I tried '07 and it sucked, so I implemented a 3 year rule, where I can only get Madden or NCAA every 3 years to keep things fresh...That means I will see Madden again in 2010...maybe.

I'm glad other people enjoyed '05 as much as I did.

I agree that MAdden 05 is the best Madden ever made. I would still play it if I have a copy, so I might pick one up soon.

Gotta co-sign this thread. As I stated in the other thread, Madden 05 was the best. Funny we say this as it was the last year Madden had competition, lol. I loved the edition of the hit-stick, the updated graphics and lighting, the game speed, everything was just on point. Definitely my favorite Madden(besides 01 simply because seeing and playing that game for the 1st time on an actual PS2 had me in awe).

Never even thought of this actually, but yeah, it's true. But then again, you'll get a whole heap of fanboys who'll say "competition means nothing."

Also, as I think about the post that said 08 for last gen was as good as 05 with extra updates, 08 for the PS2 still had that "work around" for simming where you had to put your #2 back in at FB for half the season, and modify V.Young to avoid him being the rushing leader, etc. 05 didn't have those issues, and for a Franchise guy like me, those were game killers.

I gotta go with 04 xbox as the best Madden ever. The game just seemed tons of more fun to play then 04, and you had the option of playing with the TV camera. Why did they take this out! Again, just my 2 cents.

i still play '06, i think it's the best compromise with similar gameplay to the current versions + more or less accurate franchise stats.
