From an admitted 2k/APF guy..

I was playing APF last night after taking a break and I really see the weaknesses in the game. Do not get me wrong, I think it's a great game of football, but I am watching these new Madden vids and I am actually getting pumped. What did it for me was the Pats/Giants vid I saw. It looks excellent, and IMO way better then the NCAA 09 vids I am also seeing.

Am I crazy? It just seems like Madden could actually be good this time around. I have not been following is as hardcore as many here, so maybe my optimism is just being naive, but the game looks sick to me.

Ok, what makes you believe that year will be any different than the previous? EA has already shown that all the problems are back from previous games.

Well, I don't know specifics because I boycotted EA games for a while now. But I always watched gameplay vids and saw the game played at friend's houses.

But what leaped out at me was the presentation looked very good. The players reactions and movements, the flow of the game, the look of the stadium was awesome, the formations were very team specific, the player models were way better and the tackling looked far better.

It could be, but it could be every year. People tend to bash Madden bashers when they come out so early but the fact of the matter is that EA has created the Madden bashers based on previous performance. 99% of the time, the videos look great, the promises are there, the "hype" is built, and the delivery fails. Could this be the year of the 1%? Sure, why not? But if you're playing the odds, this year will be like all the others.

I'm not not a *****/fanboy or anything. In fact the APF zealots are off their rockers if you ask me.

I just wanted to comment because it is interesting that last night I also was playing APF after watching some of these NCAA/Madden videos I was in the mood for football and hadn't played any football game in months. And I was LOVING it.

Not a perfect game by any means, and not the holy grail some think it is. However is does some things that EA football just sucks at. I think it was worth every one of the $10 I paid for it!

If APF had a franchise mode I would've been far happier with the game. I don't play online and so I lasted about 6 seasons in the Single Season mode and I just got bored.

I think both are good games but to me Madden/NCAA has more replay value because of the Franchise/Dynasty modes.

And I think Madden bashers tend to have an unrealistic expecation of how things work and how quickly they should work. They seem to expect the game to be as polished as a non-sports game that has a development cycle of several years even thought a Madden game has 10 (12 at most) months of dev time in between releases. Criticism is fine, but temper the expectations with at least some basis in reality.

I did the exact same thing, it was hard to get GTA out of my 360 but I did it.
And after seeing the Madden tackle video yesterday, reading all the comments, playing APF, then watching the Vid again............ I remain as unimpressed as I was yesterday. If you stripped down the graphics that would be madden 03 with new animations.
