There's nothing silly about that. Botched snaps happen in games. We're talking about realism. Its no different from throwing a pass to your receiver. He's not guarantee to catch it. He suppose to but he doesn't all the time. There shouldn't be any incomplete passes either huh? Since we're suppose have control over it right?

You have a good point but I'd argue that you still have control over drops. I know not to throw to brick hands in traffic or on 3rd down. There is some amount of randomness but it's something I influence. I don't think it's bad to have some amount of influence on whether a long snap is bad or not.

Penalties are something that's totally out of the user's control and there's no way around it. I guess you could lump bad snaps into this category.

What about if instead of the meter you hold the A button down and let go when the QB says hike... This gets rid of the a meter, but still keeps the same interactive feel to the game. This could work on every snap, this would also work well for home/ away games making it a lot more difficult to hear the snap with the noise in a stadium. Creating false starts, delays of game and botched snaps.
