It's cool. What would be nice for them to change is how roster updates are delivered, because unless I'm wrong, you DO need gold for those. As I recall, my aforementioned buddy runs into this problem frequently.

I'm pretty sure that's right because you have to sign in to the EA Online servers to get the file, which requires Gold. I don't know if you could do it as a patch, but free DLC should be a possibility. I know that 2K did that with the card packs for MLB 2K8.

Packaging looks great, not much bigger than a normal game in size & dimension. Here's hoping the PS3 packaging is the same - that way it will fit through my letterbox.

I don't see why the size limit for patches has to be that small, I can understand having a limit but in this day and age a 4mb limit for a patch, come on M$. I hope the re-examine their policy because it's causing an unnecessary headache for the developer and the consumer here.
