QB vision------without the Cone

Idea to simulate QB field vision—without the Cone

All quarterbacks are not equal when reading coverage in football, unless you are playing a video football game. We have God’s view of the field—so how do you simulate the differences between Tom Brady and Rex Grossman?

One way to do this would be to have Rex Grossman call a pass play, and then when he gets to the line of scrimmage the play art shows only for the primary, a random secondary receiver, and the safety valve on the play. He can still throw to any receiver but if you don’t remember the route and throw too soon/late…..the accuracy will take a big hit.(Overthrows / short throws…not a bunch of interceptions please).

You could also have the icons for the receivers “Grayed Out” that are not in his “vision.” Now if the line does a great job of blocking and you have all day to pass, you will still see the 3rd, 4th receiver options and can still throw to who is open.

Tom Brady would have all the play art and all the icons in color. Advantage Tom Brady.

Any additional thoughts or improvements on this idea?

The cone will always be the best solution, too bad people couldn't handle it. Some things could have been fixed with the cone use but we'll never get to see that now.

The cone was the best thing this game had. Man I miss it. Even though i use the colts i still had to learn how to make the proper reads and actually look at who i was throwing to. made the game a challenge.

Too hard to move the cone around for too many people.

Someone had a similar idea a couple months ago. I think Ian read it, so who knows, maybe it'll be a consideration for 2010.

The idea is not bad at all, personally I LOVED the vision cone and thought it was an innovative feature but I can't for the life of me figure out who Rick Grossman is?!?

I would love to see the passing cone with the sixaxis controller/wii-mote. That'd actually make it intuitive ... which it wasn't on the R-stick. too bad MS doesn't have that technology integrated.

Might be good as a supplemental thing... but there are a lot of us who never had coaches cam for many years... I don't think most of us rely on it enough to have this idea make that big of a dent.
