roster-online match

O.K.-I got the answer I needed earlier about DLing the roster update only if playing an online match. I guess my real question is this...I don't play any online, I just do the offline franchise thing. Do I actually have to play a game to DL rosters, or can I back out once the rosters are downloaded?

That may be bad etiquette to do this, and I don't want to P.O. anyone, so any suggestions or direction would be appreciated.
