Re: Ian what do you think about analog stick passing for 2010? I think it would be GR

I love this idea and think if you haven't already, put this in the suggestions thread. They won't have it ready for 2010, but a year or so after that they could implement it into the game. For those that don't want to use it don't have to. People say that you wouldn't have enough time to throw it effectively, you act as if even now you always have enough time to throw it. Sometimes the recievers are covered and you have to take the sack. This would bring a level of realism to the game because it would put the throwing in the hands of the recievers. You would have plenty of time because instead of moving the left stick and holding the button you want the throw it to, you would use the triggers and the right analog stick. They needed for a long time to take sprint off of the trigger anyway so that you could have left and right stiff arm. Hell! This may sound crazy but take out the sprint button all together. Make the left stick more sensitive so that when you hold it all the way up you are sprinting and if you take a little pressure off the stick, it is jogging. The thing that killed me the most of all of these things was when the guy said if it isn't broken, don't fix it. But isn't that exactly why all of us are so unhappy with EA? Because they take all of its fans for granted and instead of making and improving perfect games, they just realease a roster update per year with no real improvements? EA NEEDS to take their games to the next level with revolutionary ideas like this, because if they don't then they obviously don't care about its fans and just want the money.

1. It would be similar to the swing system in tiger woods

2. pressing the stick back would bring the qb's arm back, pressing the stick forward and in a direction would bring the qb's arm forward

3. maximum distance for the throw and accuracy of the throw would be determined by stats but the power and direction in which you throw the ball is all up to you and how you use the stick

4. I haven't decided whether or not the ball should be released automatically (once the stick is pressed forward) or if it should be released with one of the trigger buttons, I would assume it would be more effective with the trigger buttons because then you could use the stick for some nice pump fakes...

5. this style of passing would truly put the passing control in the users hands... imagine that lob pass you need in the fourth quarter with seconds left... well simply pull back at a slow pace and go forward press the trigger button and there ya go...

6. this would turn passing in madden into an art and something to truly get really good at... lead recievers - you do it, throw bombs - you do it, pump fake then lob pass over a lb - you do it, if you overthrow its your fault, if you under throw its your fault... OMG just talking about it has gotten me very excited.

7. Ian I honestly think if this is put in 2010 it will be heralded as one of the greatest Madden features ever. It will also change the way the game is played forever.
I think golf is a much slower paced sport that you could pull this off on. Football on the other hand is fast passed and you would get sacked 90% of them time unless blocking was unrealistic.

I would rather see more QB ratings to make each QB feel different. 6 new qb ratings short, med and long all three with inside hash mark and outside hash mark accuracy.

It is after all the most import position on the field and it only has 2 position specific rating.

I agree 100%....Way too complicated, it would definitely take away from the fun factor. I know we want realism, but the kind of realism you're talking about comes with a hefty price. A price that could make or break the fun of the game. I doubt that we want to take that big a risk.

Ummm.....Yes! The passing game doesn't need any overhauling, it needs tweaking. The left stick needs to be tweaked so that we can lead the receivers a little more accurately. Otherwise, all of that stuff you're asking isn't going to positively overhaul the game, it would ruin it completely. Sorry dude.

Hockeys faster paced than all of them combined and it works fine.

So, when someone has the puck there are between four and seven guys trying to hit him at all times? And he has three to five options on where to pass it? With only 2-6 seconds to make a decision?

I agree there are parts of hockey that are fast...but not as compicated or fast as the passing game especially when the defense blitz.
