Smart safety weapons arent working on and offline play

Ed Reed (Ravens), Daren Sharper (Vikings) and Kerry Rhodes (Jets) smart weapon are not working on and offline. The weapon doesnt even appear. I havent had these issues with Bob Sanders (Colts), Troy Polamalu (Steelers), and not to sure about Rodney Harrison (Patriots). Any one else having these issues with smart safeties?

what does it do and how do you know if it is working?

It shows the offenses play art.

Every play? Do you get it when you the smart safety or does it just automatically come up if you have a guy on your team?

not every play....it automatically shows the play art when available.

If the opponent calls the same play x number of times. The smart weapon will reveal the opponents playart once when the lightbulb meter is full. After the reveal, the lightbulb will be empty and has to be full again to reveal one play.

Sorry to necro, but in case anyone was curious...

Kerry Rhodes' smart weapon doesn't work on account of a bug; Ed Reed and Daren Sharper experience the same problem. Apparently, EA accidentally programmed it so smart weapons only work if your player has another weapon. If you go into "Edit Player" and change any of these safeties' attributes so that they have another weapon (either Brick Wall Defender, Big Hitter or Speed Safety, with 91+ Tackling, 88+ Hit Power or 96+ Speed, respectively), then the smart weapon for that player will work.

I presume that this bug came about in EA's hasty attempt to fix the opposite problem from Madden '08, where a smart safety wouldn't get his smart weapon if he had any other weapon.

I'm hoping that someone from EA will see this somewhere and fix it for the next patch, if there is going to be one.
