Try Jacksonville's D. They have all the 4-3 sets, the 46 norm, nickel and nick 3-3-5, Dollar, Dime n Dime Under and Quarter. 46 does NOT suck online, its just not great against a pass happy team. It eats the run up though.

Now I just wish I could find a book with all the 4-3's AND the 46 Bear.

I normally would agree that the 3-4 doesn't work well in Madden, but this year it seems very functional. I've played several games using either the 4-3 or 3-4, and up to this point I find the 3-4 to be the most effective all-around defense. Of course you need the proper personel to make it work ... strong d-lineman and athletic/fast linebackers. I've been using Pitt mostly when I've tried the 3-4 and so far it's been my most effective D.

nice, good the hear! i actually have been experimenting with Pittsburgh, SF, New England, and Dallas' defensive playbooks. is there a good hybrid of a dominantly 3-4 with some 4-3 formations mixed in that you know of?

Re: Which Def. playbook is your favorite??

I have to agree with the 3-4 being effective this year, I've been using the Ravens defensive playbook with the Cowboys recently (wanted a nickel normal which Dallas didn't have) and have found it a very effective 3-4 defensive scheme. I know Dallas has tons of talent but I also found the same (yet slightly lesser results due to talent) with the Dolphins who I used the same scheme with some less than default personnel

I've found I get more sack per game with the 3-4 than 4-3 this year.

I'll second that. Using the 4-3 I rarely get any sacks, at best one per half. I've had several games using the 3-4 in which I had 3-4 sacks in a half ... some from blitzes, some just from a lineman getting through. All of them were very realistic, and I even got a safety using a blitz when I had my opponent pinned at thier own 1 yd line! I also find teh 3-4 more effective against many pass plays as far as coverage, etc.

Just might be the year of the 3-4!!!

My vote goes to Chicago is very similar to the Jacksonville defensive playbook.

In franchise and playing the CPU i roll with the Multiple-D playbook, online and versus human opponents its all about the 46.

It just comes down to versus the CPU you can use a more realistic play call set up than versus a human player that more times than not abuses exploits and faults in the game.

Well, I've only played with the Browns so far and their defense isn't very good but I like their playbook. They run a variety of 3-4 formations and their nickel packages are awesome. They ahve a 1-5-5, a 2-4-5, and a 3-3-5.
