Re: Robo Qb at its finest

Still using madden IQ and Aaron Rodgers just kept torching me. I was able to win the game due to my own passing game but Rodgers would not miss. I don't mind a QB getting a high percentage or throwing for lots of yards, but I literally would drop everyone back into coverage besides my 3 defensive linemen and he would still pick me apart. Blitzing made no difference because my line gets absolutely no rush and I usually get 1-2 sacks a game in 8 minute quarters.

I can "hurry" the QB but they still make throw after throw on target. One positive from the game is that my rush defense IQ rating is maxed out and the computer was able to establish a nice run game with 5 yards per carry. Unfortunately the way in which it happened was that the computer would break a few tackles per every attempt rather than just finding better running lanes. My own run game hasn't been very good for some reason despite an excellent offensive line and a good running back. I'm lucky to get 3 yards per carry in the game.

My IQ's pass offense rating is maxed out but I still found it easy to throw the ball by just being patient and not forcing throws. I just go deep to Owens (I play as the cowboys) maybe twice per game if he's matched up in single coverage, and besides that I just take what the defense gives me. Usually that means dumping the ball off to a running back or a short throw to Witten but I know that if I try opening it up a bit more the computer will start picking off every throw.

Re: Robo Qb at its finest

I didn't buy into the Robo QB at first, but the more games I play, the more quarterbacks run up 70-80% completion games against me.

I use My Skill and my pass defense hovers between All-pro and All-Madden. I've started letting Madden call all my D's and I'll adjust when I need to, but there are some QBs that won't be stopped. I'll press, focus on the primary receiver, play man 2 man, cover 2, blitz, it doesn't matter it always seems like an automatic completion. If I start blitzing to get more pressure on the QB, they just throw it that much faster and there always seems to be somebody wide open.

I like the game, but it is just not fun in the instances when you know that the opposing QB will not miss. I've played games against Denver, the Patriots, Colts, and the Cowboys where you know that no matter how much you score, you can't stop the other team because the QB is just going to burn you ever possession. Like other posters have said, I've had games where they'll put up ridiculous numbers against me, something like 23-25, where there was 1 imcompletion and 1 interception.

I don't mind losing in this game. I have a blast when I have to grind for a win, but when it seems like the loss is scripted it takes away the fun.

I'll give this a try.

I usually get at least 3 sacks a game, sometimes more, just depends on who i'm playing. Of course i'm using the Raiders and their d-line isn't all that, with the exception of Burgess, and he tends to be double teamed a lot. I do however get quite a bit of pressure on the QB which causes him to be off on some passes, so that's the main thing. What works quite often too, i'll use a formation with one more CB than I need and blitz with him. I also spread the d-line and blitz a LB every once in a while with good results. Another thing that tends to confuse the offense is by shifting around my defense pre-snap. Call my play, bring them down to show blitz, move them back out into their original coverage, shift the line one way and shift the LBs the other, maybe just shift either the line or the LBs only, pinch the d-line or spread them out, etc. Sometimes I don't move anyone. Randomly mixing up all of this works extremely well to confuse the offense.

All QB completion % for week 1. 20 guys completed at least 60% of their passes. 8 with 70% or higher. The mysterious robo qb is not that big of an issue. Guys will light you up from time to time. If it happens to you every game, then honestly you probably need to work on you pass defense or adjust the sliders (which certainly works).

Problem with your stats is that these are not games played against a human. Robo-Qb seems to be much more prevalent in PLAYED games, not simmed games.

All of that is very true. With adjusted sliders my games play great. Sometimes I stop the pass, sometimes I don't, sometimes I crush the run, sometimes I get lit up. I've held the CPU to as low as 57% completions on passes and gave up a worst of 72% once. I can hold the CPU to 3 YPC or less rushing, sometimes I get lit up for 6 YPC or more. Every game is different. It all depends on who I play against, how well my playcalling is, and how well I execute my plays. That's how it should be, that's how it is in real life.

I only use the Raiders, have my entire Madden life, has nothing to do with McFadden being there now as I know a lot of people have jumped on the bandwagon as usual. So anyway, just to show how diverse games can be with properly adjusted sliders for yourself. Last night I played the Cowboys. Barber averaged 8.5 YPC and Romo threw for close to 300 yards with 72% completions and no INTs, they held me to 3 YPC rushing, 90 something yards passing, and I threw 5 INTs. Final score was Cowboys 44, Raiders (me) 10.

I played the Cowboys again this morning while I was waiting on college games to come on tv. I held Barber to 3.2 YPC rushing, and Romo had 218 yards with 61% completions and 2 INTs. They fumbled on a punt return which I manually stripped and recovered and I also stripped the ball from one of the RBs and I recovered it (don't remember who was carrying for them). I averaged 4.5 YPC rushing, 287 yards passing with 70% completions and 1 INT I threw. I won 24-13.

Btw, I have Fargas as #1, McFadden as #2, Bush as #3, and McFadden as the 3rd Down Back. So most of my yards are from Fargas.

These are not madden stats, these are the real stats from this past week in the NFL.
