It true. Everyone will buy madden anyway. Me included.

So stop catering to the casual crowd and make this game realistic.

Re: Madden has along way to go

I'm looking forward to the day when Madden incorporates player specific aninmations and all the little things that matter ala NBA 2K9. As much as love Madden, I've been playing 2k9 a lot more. The fun factor in 2K9 is just crazy. I hope EA blows us away with all new gameplay for 2010, key word hope.

Lame? How DARE you! LOL... J/K.

You're right it is lame, that's one reason why I put it out there that they should've probably figured this out by now. But I'm stressing the point at least that it's not easy to do.

Your point about Fifa is well taken, but I'd bet a bundle that the player models in Madden are pulling more resources just from a graphical perspective than the models in Fifa just for the simple fact that a football model is constructed of more parts, but I'd have to really examine Fifa deeply before I could determine how much of a difference this makes in the context we're talking about... and if it didn't make a huge difference then this could be an even bigger problem with Madden.

Well, the shooters are a different animal. Baseball games, different animal there, too. But as Podsquad pointed out, FIFA is a good comparison to look at for benchmarks, so you make a good point there. FIFA is something I'm going to be studying now that it's been brought up. Haven't played a Soccer game in a looooong time so it should be interesting.

I agree, and I think EA learned their lesson with the '08 football games, seeing what happens when those graphics aren't top notch. NCAA '08 dropped by like 100,000 sales, and it was a better game than '07 except that the graphics stunk, so it had to have an impact.

I think Madden 2010 will be a fine game, I'm just not convinced that some of those hurdles for getting all of those things in will be cleared at 60 frames...

For me, more customization is a really big deal. Right now, Madden is dying for it. And it's subtle stuff, like just being able to pick what temperature you're playing under, or making adjustments to picture color and such. I think the issue for people like you and me is that in 4 seasons it doesn't seem like we're being heard because each year things like that get ignored. The "offline player" is getting the raw deal, which is perplexing because that's still where Madden is making their money.

Having all of the details you're talking about is something I desire too. But I guess what it comes down to is this... if it's possible for them to do it, they just haven't figured out how without having to sacrifice other stuff severely. Notice how every year the crowd looks worse? They're stripping available resources from some things and spreading them to others. Going back to the beginning of this gen, I remember the crowd looked great, compare that to what it looks like now, lol.

I look at All Pro Football, and I see the most detailed player models ever made (one closeup in replay says it all), but I also see the worst looking grass and terribly low-res stadiums ever made. They put so many resources into the models that nothing was left. So even though you had hefty Sidelines with intelligent AI, the overall picture didn't look high-end.

Both 2k and EA and a host of other devs have had issues and are patching games left and right.
You have got to be kidding me. NBA 2K is great and has been since day one. The decline in NBA Live's sales tell that story. NFL 2K ( Or ESPN 2K ) was starting to leave Madden in the dust too before EA smartened up and shelled out money for that license. 2K is better and has been since they started. Can't wait till 2012 or 2013 when that license is up.

Never said 2k NBA gm wasnt good. Never said 2k NFL gm wasnt good. Ur post has no relevant info. 2k might not exist in 2012.

2nd Sound
It should be very loud in the stadium when it's a big game, close game,etc...

Also add chants like M-V-P-(Certain players),OVERRATED,J-E-T-S- JETS JETS JETS,etc.....
its funny... Gameday 98 for the first Playstation back in 1997 had crowd reactions for specific players..... like when Jerry Rice caught the ball...the crowd would chant "JERRY"

and as far as sideline interactions.....well I know they were sprites...but in Gameday 97 you could knock down the Cheerleaders, Chaingang, etc on the sidelines..... it was quite funny knocking down the cheerleaders...haha.....

there is alot of things Madden needs to fix.... as far as the Graphics whore in me... I can't understand why they chose to change the art direction (is it) of this series after Madden 07

Madden 07 had HDR....and looked just overall more realistic.... now Madden 08 and especially 09 look like cartoon characters......maybe not cartoon characters...they just don't look as realistic as Madden 07....the body types improved though.....but just the look of the game doesn't look good.... if you put NFL2k5 and Madden 09 side by side you'd notice a difference.... like the colors are off or something....

its like they had to downgrade the games graphics as far as Lighting (taking away HDR) and player resolution (just look at the jersey they look low res compared to Madden 07) just to achieve 60fps......

as far as gameplay simple problems like this cause my head to hurt.... I rolled out and passed the ball for a TD...but my player was clearly out of bounce....my brother challenged the call on the field..and I expected it to be turned over.....but nope the play stands :O

here is a video of it...
