To give a little background info, I have played every Madden so far on the 360 and, well, I am done with next gen football for awhile. I think EA needs a few more years to bring up next-gen Madden to where PS2 Madden/NCAA is. I already sold NCAA 09 and Madden 09 and have been playing NCAA 07 on the PS2 and the gameplay is amazing!

So, the last Madden I played on the PS2 was 05 and I want something newer and was thinking anywhere from 07 to 09. Do any of these three versions stand out over the others? Any big gameplay problems with any of these versions such as too many turnovers, poor AI, too many or lack of penalties? Any of these versions have a great feature that isn't in the others?

I pretty much want recommendations as to how it plays on the field. I only play single player against the cpu in Franchise mode playing seasons with various teams. Any input would be appreciated.

I was reading through that post and they said a lot of great things about the 09 version, I am just wondering if it is better than 07 and 08 as far as gameplay.

yeah 09. 07 and 08 would suck because they arent new

I rented PS2 08, and it was exactly like PS2 07, minus the Tony Bruno Radio Show and newspapers.
So I'll assume 09 is like 08, except with updated rosters. I could be wrong, however. I can't rent it yet; it's not available at my local Blockbuster. I plan to though.

I just bought 09 for PS2 yesterday after yet another "next-gen" football disappointment.

I heavily recommend it to everyone. Graphics are nice too, the atmosphere is great, refs on field, dirty uniforms, chain-gang, and a ton of coverage/defensive options. It wasnt raining in the game I played, but I guess it had, as I had some splashing going on...

The control/playability is unequaled. In the PS3, you are so tied down, stuck in animation hold, you might as well just put down your controller on defense.

Its a great game. I was feeling bad about football til now. PS3 game is shallow, PS2 game really is a good product..
