First off,

This thread is NOT intended to downplay any of the things that the EA producers have done regarding Madden. I recognize that they have worked their asses off and deserve credit for that. Please don't turn this thread into a Madden bash party or an EA vs 2k thing.

Having said that

I was wondering your opinions on whether Madden should just scrap the gameplay engine they have right now and create an entirely new one or if they should continue to build on the one they currently have.

you do know that is what the did for 360...which is why we are still so behind on features..Once they built everything up from scratch they have to redo every single feature over again. Dp you REALLY want to be back at madden 06 (360 version) again?

I don't want to be back at Madden 06 but I would definitely welcome a re-designed engine that emulates simulation football a little bit better. I would welcome that, and limited features, with open arms.

As this is a forum dedicated to Madden, I guess I can't get upset when the same topic comes up frequently.

That said, this topic has been discussed a million times. And as mentioned, they started from scratch when this current generation of consoles made its debut.

So no, I do not want them to again start from scratch.

Ian wants madden to be SIM and make the cheesers adjust

This thread is funny. This has been asked a gazillion times, and Ian answered it already. They wont start from scratch, too much time and money.

We will love them to start all over, but there just not. Lets see how the game plays in '10 since we have the right team(for the game). This thread will either be locked, or Ian will come by and answer what he already answered before.

I would welcome a COMPLETE change to the whole gameplay. To the point where the only thing you recongnize is the name madden and the nfl teams and the rest of the game is completly new. Believe me i know thats not happening (unless they dont release for a year and take 2 years to develope it.) i just figured id throw out an opinion. I didnt like the engine's b4 the next-gens so im one of those guys.

I'm not going to say that it doesn't matter who created the engine, as my initial reaction was going to be.

But still, it's proven that it takes much time and resources when starting over from scratch. We're still paying for that next gen transition as you can see. Why start over again?

Ian has said himself that sim gameplay can result from just tweaking what's already there. I'm willing to give that a shot first before we overhaul anything.
