Re: "PLAY NOW" TEAM RATINGS

I think it should be segregated, it gives a clearer definition of team's strength and weaknesses.

Re: "PLAY NOW" TEAM RATINGS

Segregated.

Offense: take the rating of the starting QB, top 2 HBs, staring FB, top 4 WRS, starting TE, and starting Lineman and get the average.

Defense: take the rating of the starting Defensive Lineman, starting LBs (including 2nd string LB on 34 team, top 4 CBs, and starting safeties and get the average.

Example: Patriots

Brady- 99
Taylor- 86
Maroney- 84
Moss- 97
Welker- 93
Aiken- 72
Slater- 71
Evans- 86
Light- 94
Mankins- 95
Koppen- 93
Neal- 89
Kaczur- 84
Watson- 84

OFFENSE: 94

Seymour- 96
Wilfork- 94
Warren- 90
Crable- 77
Thomas- 94
Mayo- 88
Bruschi- 83
Hobbs- 88
Wilhite- 78
Wheatley- 78
O'neal- 76
Meriweather- 87
Harrison- 90

Defense: 86

Then take the final Offense rating and the final defense rating and get that average for the overall.

PATRIOTS
OFFENSE: 94
DEFENSE: 86
OVERALL: 90

And that's how it should look.

Do you not think special teams is important to a teams overall rating??
as a vikings fan i can assure you that our special teams lost us 2 or 3 games last year... woulda been more but our D is great.

Sure it is, it just slipped my mind. However, there is no Special Teams Coverage rating. So all that would factor in was the K, P, KRx2, and PR ratings.

Gostkowski: 94
Hanson: 85
Hobbs: 95
Faulk: 88
Welker: 90

OFFENSE: 94
DEFENSE: 86
SPC TMS: 90

OVERALL: 90

Great Idea, (wait, didn't we have this as well in last gen).... anyway, I am all for your idea, however I think you #1 QB, HB and WR should have a stronger weighting average. Maybe count there rating as "2". Think about it, if you take Tom Brady out and put in orlovsky, it would impact the whole team much more than if you replaced a center with a lower rating.

Re: "PLAY NOW" TEAM RATINGS

I voted segregated, but the important thing here is that the ratings are based off "actual" player ratings ... i.e. there needs to be some substance to the ratings!

It should be much harder for me to take over a "70" rated team and take them to a super bowl versus a "85-95" rated team. That's my favorite thing to do in franchise mode; take over a low rated team and build them into a champ. Of course this only works if the low rated team is accurately rated?
