I think this is a vital aspect of the game, and it does need some attention. But, I'm sure this is being addressed because of the things Ian was saying about this topic post '09.

For the people at the community day How did the new 2 man wedges feel? Do they work? Is it working with the new kicking game?

i have another rating: special team coverage(stc) guys that are always the first one down leaping to keep the ball out of the end zone and at the 1 yard line.this will have special teamers make the probowl.

The game of football is all about field position, so special teams is HUGE. Unfortunately, Madden hasn't done a good job in making it fun to play. I agree with the OP on this topic. They need to implement new mechanics to improve the "funness" if you will, of the kicking game.

The reason why people "don't care" about special teams, is the fact that it is very Boring in it's current state. If a certain level of skill and suspense was added to kicking field goals, or if returning punts and kickoffs was exciting...we would see more posts about that aspect of the game.
