Re: Address the Pass Defense After the Ball is Thrown(Vid inside Truth Chasers)

This has truly irritated me for as long as I can remember.

I have hope this years team has changed up the physics in this area since they seem to want to bring back the sim and realism to Madden.

At times when I'm able to make a pass that beats the defender going for the swat, seeing the defender break out of that animation and I guess you can say morph into the tackle just because the receiver is in range.

For Madden 10 I hope they give receivers the ability to fight for balls in the air again but to see stuff like what's in the video below even more then I see now would kinda be a turn off. With the blog about both QB's and WR/DB interaction and the mention that there are more changes planned into this area, I have hope that this has changed to a certain degree

----------------

I know Ian mentioned that he's watched your videos in the past so I hope this is addressed because I remember seeing this same video but with comparison to Madden 09 itself.

Now... I can respect the fact that air collisions wanna be seen in-game but, really? Did no one not see this and say it doesn't look right?

Off-Topic:
Said hope a little to much lol...

There can be no ambiguity, the pass defense in the video shown here is far better than Madden NFL.

This video is an example of realistic physical properties, and textbook pass defense.

yea one part of the game for Madden 09 that annoys me is you can throw a pass to a wr that is under single coverage. both the wr and cb are either right near each other or seperated by a few yards and the cb will blindly swat at the ball. and it isnt just a small swatting motion. its a swat you would find in the nba. or the cb just leaps up with his back to the ball and puts his hand up to just knock the ball to the ground.

I certainly don't like to see DB's with superhuman abilities. But honestly what bothers me even more is the opposite.

Seeing highly rated User team DB's playing like their blind. As though they have no concept of the flight of the ball. Ie...just standing there in great position to make a play on the ball...and they do nothing. Or actually move out of the way.

Now maybe the concept at or near All-Madden level is to be responsible for switching to the nearest man and make the play yourself. But if thats the case...then why would you bother to trade for, or draft highly rated players? Either one can drive you batty, superhuman or blind. But of the two...the blind 95 rated player bugs me the most.

Is anyone else shocked when your WR catches a 1v1 ball? Cause anytime there is a CB even close to the WR it seems like it gets picked or swatted.
