What is YOUR definition of "Sim" Football?

I'm curious to hear what other people are expecting?

When I play Madden 09 online, for every 5 games I play, about 3 games are against someone without much football sense. The general mentality is to succeed by using the Game against itself. You already know, Curl, Screen, RB out backfield.

What exactly is "Sim" going to do for win-at-any-cost type players? I can tell you now, based off the new QB ratings, these players are going to flock to Pit, NE, and Dal.

My point is will the Game be "Sim" because of what WE have to do to be successful, or just how the players interact?

Will there still be "predispositions"? Example - Every year there are teams that are suppose to win it all that year, but don't. Last year, Dallas jumps off the page. They are put on Madden with these "hype" ratings, and become the team of choice for Gamers that lack football sense due to that team being "predisposed" to be good.

Does "Sim" mean that WE will have to play to our strengths while managing our weaknesses to win? That's "Sim" to me. I hear alot of "no more doing this or that", but what about the teams that are "suppose to be able to do this or that". It would be nice to see Gamers playing "Sim" Football, but if you don't know how, not be able to just go play with a "hyped" team so the CPU can assist your Game.

Thanks

lol, this should be good.

To me Sim football is if you play the game without using cheats / exploits.

I don't care if you run the same play 50 times in a row, as long as it is a legit play you are OK in my book.

By Legit play I mean a play that is 100% defendable in a reasonable manner. Meaning, I shouldn't have to devote 3 defenders to stopping a high curl, or something along those lines.

Re: What is YOUR definition of "Sim" Football?

My definition of cheese is simply corny nonsense like rollout and chuck, putting RBs at FB all the time and running FB dives as your primary running play, running the same 3 plays (even though they eventually get shut down), in NCAA putting Percy Harvin or Trinton Holiday at QB and running speed option damn near every day. That's what I consider cheesing.

The walk glitch, direct snap glitch, super HB toss - all that stuff is outright cheating.

Honestly, the talk of sim is getting on my nerves because I think that nowadays there are more and more people who tend to whine and moan about certain things that they cannot stop even though it's not really an exploit or glitch and then just saying it's 'not sim'. I see this online A LOT in sports games. I feel that there are so many self-imposed rules of what is sim nowadays....

^^^Well said and 100% true. "Sim" is only using things that can be countered by conventional means within the construct of the game. Not using things that are only discovered to be flaws in the way the game is made.

IMO Sim is a game thats plays out much similar to real football. Players sprinting all play isnt sim. Suction blocking isnt sim. 190 lbs RB's trucking 330 lbs DT isnt sim.
