...back when Madden was at its peak I would play through the start of the MLB season. Now, October... maybe?

I always play madden on/off during the year until the new version comes out. But in terms of playing it a lot here's the breakdown for the last 5 years:

Madden 2004: August 2003 - May 2004

Madden 2005: August 2004 - August 2005

Madden 06 (PS2; didn't get the 360 version since I
knew it would be bare bones): August 2005 - March 2006

Madden 07 (started getting madden on
360 from here): August 2006 - September 2006

Madden 08: August 2007 - October 2007

Madden 09: August 2008 - November 2008

I usually play for a good 25 hours a day for 8 months, put it down for a month to let my thumbs heal. When talk of the next madden starts i pop it back in until....

the madden 06, 07 ps2 version with the franchise as good as it was we played that thru the summer...Madden 09 i played consistently for about 2 3 months , got tired of the online league because it never worked (teams being to good, couldnt find dedicated people etc) and swtiched over to NCAA 09 online dynasty. Now i play 09 here and there to get a quick football fix. M10 i EXPECT to play a throughout the yr

The last day I played '09 was August 25th, 2008. I remember seeing that in the dashboard when I was deleting old data to make HD space and for some reason the date stuck in my head. I sold it to my brother-in-law sometime in September/October for a little more than I would have got in trade, but less than he would've paid for it used.

Now, if I enjoy '10, I will likely play a franchise during the course of the season. I usually don't play sports games much past the end of their respective season, although OTP had me playing FIFA well into last summer and NHL may do the same this year...

I still play Madden 07 because the last two games were just terrible. I still play 2k5 though every week. In fact, I'm playing it right now ('76 Cowboys vs. '78 Steelers)
