Right now I'd settle for motion controlled FG kicking....

This Natal thing is light years ahead of what the Wii can do. It recognizes the emotion in your voice, facial recognition, and can read your facial expressions. Awesome!! I like that it reads your whole body. It would be pretty sweet using this for kicking in Madden or juking out defenders.

Did they have a demo of this technology? Sounds like vapor ware to me.

Yeah. They had a live tech demo showing a Boom Blox sort of knocking down blocks thing. They also had a painting app where the person would say the color they wanted and it'd automatically switch and then they could just motion to paint. And behind closed doors, people are playing Burnout Paradise with the camera. You steer by holding your hands out like you're driving, you accelerate/decelerate by moving your right foot forward/backward, and you use your boost by motioning with your right arm like you're shifting.

It's certainly not vaporware. Whether it really takes off or not is probably up to developers and their creativity at this point.

Interesting. Sounds very Minority Reportish to me. One of those things that looks really neat in the movies, but IRL might not be as awesome. Tactile touch and feedback are always going to be needed at some level. Maybe they'll throw in a set of Power Glove's to go along with it.

Re: A Controller-less Madden in the Future?

Just so I understand...we STILL don't have adequate physics and momentum in CURRENT versions of Madden and we WANT developers to be wasting tons of man hours implementing a device that will interpret my EMOTIONS???!?!?!?!?!?!

No.

Just, no.

That is 90% of the problem with Madden now...instead of using the new power of the consoles for AI, physics and realism, EA (like virtually all other developers) decided to go the graphics whore route. The result? A perpetually broken game and a nightmare for the team working it now to fix...

I would hope that for Madden, EA stays exactly on the current path...LOVED Ian's comment about FIFA in the AllGames interview...screw "new" features and modes...get the core exactly right first...and that is YEARS away still!

You might want to reserve judgement until, you know, you actually see it.
