Now in Madden you have two options to move player models in the game with the D-pad or the left analog stick. I honestly think D-pad as a player movement control should be removed if EA truly wants to improve running animations/locomotion and make the game look more realistic instead of so robotic. It could also help prevent "tron jogging" as apex well described in his you tube videos.

Now fight night had a similar system with the punching where one could use face buttons or the right analog stick to throw various punches. I think they made the right decision in making full punching control on the right analog stick leveling the playing field so that everyone would have to learn and use the same controls. I think the samething could apply for madden.

I know this will have mixed reviews, but I'm curious to see how the community feels about this.

I honestly forgot the D-Pad controls movement as well...Does anyone even use that over the Analog stick.

The joystick works just like a directional pad right now as it is. That's one of the huge flaws in Madden and NCAA. It's just off or on, there is no in between. To truly get a realistic game of football we need players to have more than just two methods of moving.

I'm still a D-Pad guy myself. I feel like it gives me more control.

Didn't I read that this years madden took out left analog stick completely? so it's just useless?

Sucks for the PS3 users like myself, the dpad feels awkward after using stick for years.

I use the d-pad when I am using the qb. It used to make it easier for precision passing on the ps2 and I just never stopped even tho I don't think the precision passing even works on ps3.

I dont know how ppl can use the D-pad on the xbox its horrible
