I realize it's fairly easy to trade for great players...

But I'd like to know how many people can resist the temptation to try and stack their team, in favor of more balanced trades, or even losing on a trade for longer term gain.

When I run a franchise, I like to keep the moves realistic. I have a friend who will always start his franchise by trading for Tom Brady, no matter what... and then just trying to absolutely stack his team...

What's fun about that? Great, you can win a game with 8 players rated 99's... fantastic, you win the big prize.

I don't know maybe I just don't get it.

I normally go for one big star in the position that needs the most help then keep it realistic. Unless there's someone to fill that void on the FA list. (This goes for any sports game)

Re: I realize it's fairly easy to trade for great players...

I try to be like a real NFL team, so I don't go out and just sign all of the best FAs. Also, I hardly ever trade for a player. The only trading I do is trade my players for draft picks or trade a low rounder for scrub if I need depth. (Last franchise I traded a 5th rounder for Kenny Watson).

I think it totally ruins all of the realism if I trade for Adrian Peterson or some other megastar. Even if I give up a first round pick, I know that the Vikings would never trade Peterson away, so I would never do that.

Im not really sure how to answer this. I dont go and sign anyone I can get and wont stack my team as that is boring as hell but at the same time I dont sit there and analyze everything down to whether the real team would make a trade or not either.
