Why are ratings so low this year?

Or, the complete opposite. Ratings mean even more, this year. A 90 overall means even more, this year. You get more variation between players. When players are commonly separated by one or two points, finding any difference is very tough. When guys are now separated by 10 points in speed, or route running, you have a chance to really bring out those better players, and separate them from the rest of the pack.
