That negative yardage came on first down because everyone knew he was getting the ball. Since you thought you've dropped such a brilliant fact that none of us knew about i'll give you another one..

Barry Sanders has the highest 2nd down running average of all time at 7.3 ypc.
Their playcalling was absolutely atrocious and one dimensional, there was 8 men in the box, people knew he was going to get the ball, and he still would get the ball 7+ yds from the line of scrimmage on 2nd down.

Bo Jackson is my favorite running back of all time but Barry Sanders without a doubt is the greatest running back of all time. also love the fact he was as humble (retiring when he had the chance to break the record) as he was and never celebrated excessively even on big plays. There will never be another one like Barry...

Only one person really had the potential to be better than Barry and that was Bo Jackson. Bo was a monster.

Unfortunately we were not meant to see achieve true greatness.

Barry may have had the most negative yards from scrimmage yet he is still currently #3 on the yards category

I would take those stats any day of the week with negative whatever.

Barry Sanders was great because he would break a huge number of tackles on one play just by juking, cutting, and spinnings as a power back would on an entire drive.

Never again will we see such talent...

Re: Barry Sanders in M10 ESPN article

Greatest ever!

Don't forget that he retired at age 30 with 15,000 career rushing yards. Barry also ran backwards for 1 whole season. He had somewhere around 250-300 carries for negative 1200 or so yards. That's a full season of just losing yards.

He was extremely healthy for a 30 year old RB and could have played another 4 or 5 years. If he played until 35, Barry would have rushed for around 20,000-22000 career yards. He would have dominated the RB records.

What could have been.............?

Re: Barry Sanders in M10 ESPN article

Imma go with Barry. Dude was amazing. I used to make sure i watched his games if they were on tv. He was something special to watch. I just remember going, and he did it again.

For me the 90's was watching Barry on Offense and my newly inducted Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas on Defense. Everyone always had their eye on Barry on offense and on Defense You had to know where my boy DT was every single play. Cant say that for any 2 other players really.
