Run To Daylight

This idea just came to me out of nowhere when I was posting on another thread, but I could totally see EA seizing the gimmick as next year's selling point a la "fight for every yard." Having my hero Emmitt Smith in mind, and just the running game in general which I would love to see get some attention, I devised a feature for players to capitalize on ball carriers with elite field vision without compromising gameplay. Call it the Daylight feature, which can be toggled on/off much like the QB vision cone from years past. Here's how it works:

When the QB hands the ball off to the back, the O-Line starts to set up their blocks. Assuming they're not getting manhandled, the clearest running lane is illuminated (much like the vision cone lit up the field), and dims as the gap is filled by defenders.

Seeing as to how AWR means practically nothing, this feature should be hinged on BCV (Ball Carrier Vision). I would like for it to be available for only elite runners with 95+ BCV, but in order for fans of all teams to be able to experience it to some degree, I think the correlation between the rating and the feature should be as such:

95-100 BCV: all running lanes are illuminated, with the best one flashing
94-75 BCV: a single running lane is illuminated
74-0 BCV: poor running lanes are illuminated, leaving the user to fend for himself

I may have to re-adjust the ratings due to this year's more spread out ratings (which I am in favor of), but overall I think it would be a welcome, cheese-proof addition to Madden 11. Thoughts?

I guess as long as I could turn it off I wouldn't mind. I personally HATED that stupid vision cone thing they had for a couple years. I really didn't like having to dick around with the right stick when picking a receiver let alone how distracting that giant cone on the field was..

Wasn't "Run to Daylight" used last year?

If it was, I forgot. Either way, I trust any new feature in Ian's hands a lot more than I ever would with developers past.

Yeah, Madden 07 I think it was.

08 was Read and React, 09 was just 'First sports game that adapts to you'

Re: Run To Daylight

sounds a little corny and gimmicky. would love to see some more attention to the run game though, that's my favorite.

Re: Run To Daylight

Extremely gimmicky. Hate the idea as much as I hated the vision cone to be honest.

Re: Run To Daylight

Potentially a good idea for a Football video game, but would be sending Madden in a completely different direction to the 'sim' feel they're now aiming towards.
