Call me crazy, but to me that's not a good thing especially if you have to do it more than once...

I can't really remark about the online thing as I don't know enough, but with PS3 I don't personally see or have any issues plus I'm not being jacked for more cash by Sony like folks are with MS.

I got the dreaded three rings yesterday so my friend let me borrow his and his xbox showed the three rings too. Does that mean it's my cords that are broken? Any help would be appreciated

Nooo. Are you sure its 3 not 4 lights? 4 means the cord is not correctly inserted. My 360 was like that untill a week later is was the real 3 rings... Now i have a ps3!
